Students - Are you in your final year of study and weighing up your options?
It can be like navigating your way around a maze trying to decide which employer best meets your needs in student placement. Choosing the employer that best suits you takes time and you often need to sort out what is fact and what is fiction.
Some of the things that we find make a big difference to their experience include:
Student Mentoring
We have sat down with current university undergraduates and chatted with them about what they are looking for in a placement. We really do appreciate that completing a placement can be both exciting and a bit daunting at the same time. We work hard on establishing strong relationships with local universities and encourage them to use us for placement of students.
You can expect that we will interview you as part of the student placement process. This will give you invaluable interview experience before you graduate, and will also allow us to make sure that you fit in to our culture, and have the skills and attributes we need you to have to get the best out of your student placement with us.
If you succeed in your placement with us and love the work we do, and the industry, we will seek to employ you within WorkFocus Australia (or in another division within the WorkFocus Group).
Grads that have joined us have loved the work, and enjoyed a successful career path with us.
The Grad Development Focus
We know that grads want to see their careers move solidly in a direction that is going to ensure their career development and progression.
We have a unique 'Success Pathway' as part of our personal development tools which considers all moves a grad may wish to take. We use this to carefully map out the steps required to ensure that the right exposure is achieved to suit a grads development/career advancement needs.
We would hope that with careful mapping, every Grad can meet with the same success as our very own Corina Della Posta (affectionately known as CDP).
The CDP Story
Corina Della Posta joined us as a Graduate in Psychology in 1999. Corina has progressed from a Consultant (Generalist) through to a Principal Consultant before her promotion to National Product Specialist. Her next role was State Manager Western Australia where she soon added a National Projects focus to her role. In 2010 Corina was promoted to General Manager, Employment Services reporting directly to the CEO of The WorkFocus Group.
"WorkFocus Australia has provided me with many opportunities. I started as a new grad and worked as a Work Trial Canvasser and have since completed many jobs such as Injury Management Consultant, Principal Consultant, National Product Manager and WA State Manager. I'm now the National GM for Employment Services.
WorkFocus has provided me with the professional development opportunities to learn new skills and try new and exciting adventures. WorkFocus has always listened about my desire to grow and have presented me with opportunities that I have found challenging. It is so exciting to be involved in a fast paced and growing organisation as you never know what opportunities are around the corner"
We engage students in placement in most of our locations every year. Email us at students@workfocus.com to ask a question about our Graduate opportunities.
