COVID-19 is a new strain of coronavirus that we are still learning more about each day and advice is changing regularly.

WorkFocus Australia has optimised our preparation and ability to manage any issues that may arise from the COVID-19 outbreak and is well positioned to access information and expertise. We also have a comprehensive response plan in place to support our capability to meet the needs of our customers and clients as the situation develops.

We are basing all our centralised advice and screening protocols on the Australian Department of Health advice and daily updates, to which we have included a few helpful information links and guidelines below.

WorkFocus Australia premises are operating with robust screening and management protocols, and our focus is on safeguarding all our visitors. We also have a comprehensive response plan in place to support our capability to meet your needs as the situation develops.

As much as possible, our operations will proceed as normal. As always, in the event of any disruption or changes, we will keep you fully informed.

Your clients visiting our premises

  • All appointment reminder processes whether by phone, email or text (where allowed) screen clients for overseas travel and / or recent symptoms of cold or influenza, including shortness of breath, fever, etc. This occurs 1-2 days before clients are to attend appointments at our premises
  • Additionally, all front-of-house team members screen clients upon arrival using the same criteria
  • Appointments should not proceed for anyone who has travelled anywhere overseas, with reference to current Australian government travel advice or anyone reporting symptoms of cold or influenza. Upon consultation with our customers, appointments for such individuals can be re-booked, once symptoms have abated or quarantine period observed
  • WorkFocus Australia has an advisory hotline on COVID-19, offering advice and support on each unique scenario for our people. Should a client present at our premises with any potential exposure to COVID-19, our team member calls the hotline for advice on next steps, while also immediately isolating the individual in question, ensuring mask use and supporting them to mitigate risk as they travel home to seek medical support via telephone. Under consultation with the Specialist, the appointment does not go ahead if there is any identified risk

Protocols, support and considerations for our people

If any of our team members are unwell, we ask they do not come into the office. This is for any illness, whether respiratory or not. It is an especially important principle at the moment.

We are following all Australian Department of Health guidelines on travel, social distancing and self-imposed quarantine.

We are limiting any travel overseas unless it is ‘business critical’. We are monitoring the situation as it applies to domestic travel.

This also allows us a full, centralised view of any COVID-19 exposure across our business throughout Australia.

Prevention and care

While unrelated to COVID-19, we are also on the cusp of the traditional influenza season. This unfolding situation is a timely reminder that we should all keep vaccinations up to date, including this season’s flu vaccination as it becomes available.

Keeping well and working

As we work together as a community to manage COVID-19, keeping well and working is more important than ever. As much as possible, WorkFocus Australia operations will proceed as normal, so that as our client, your program for recovery can continue.

We will still meet with you, but if unable to meet with you face-to-face at present, we will speak with you to find another way to give you the support you need, using telephone video-conferencing technology and/or implementing social distancing principles. It is important that your recovery and rehabilitation continues. If you are ill and too unwell to interact with us, we will re-schedule your appointment for when you are better. As always, in the event of any disruption or changes, we will keep you fully informed.

Appointments

  • Appointments should not proceed face-to-face for anyone identified to have travelled anywhere overseas, with reference to current Australian Government travel advice or anyone reporting symptoms of cold or influenza. We will seek to complete appointments for such individuals via video or teleconference or appointments can be re-booked once symptoms have abated or quarantine period observed.
  • WorkFocus Australia has an advisory hotline on COVID-19, offering advice and support on each unique scenario for our people. Should a client present at our premises with any potential exposure to COVID-19, our team member calls the hotline for advice on next steps, while also immediately isolating the individual in question, ensuring mask use and supporting risk mitigation as the client travels home to seek medical support via telephone.
  • Under consultation with the Specialist, the appointment will not go ahead if there is any identified risk.

All of our team members are also being screened using the same criteria each day so we keep you safe.

What are Coronaviruses?

Coronaviruses are a large family of respiratory viruses that can cause illnesses that range from the common cold to more severe diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS). This particular coronavirus has been named “COVID-19.”

How is the COVID-19 spread?

At this point in time, health authorities (including the Australian Government Department of Health) have not confirmed how the virus is spread. They have advised that the virus is most likely spread through:

  • Close contact with an infected person
  • Contact with droplets from an infected person’s cough or sneeze
  • Touching objects or surfaces that have cough or sneeze droplets from an infected person, and then touching your mouth or face

What are the symptoms?

Symptoms include (but are not limited to):

  • Fever
  • Flu-like symptoms such as cough, fatigue and sore throat
  • Shortness of breath
